I’m a philosopher,
currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy of Bilkent University. Before that (April 2006 – April 2007) I was a research fellow at the Centre for Consciousness,
headed by David Chalmers, at the
Australian National University. Before that I have been a graduate
student in Philosophy at the Central European University, getting my
PhD there in 2005. In 2003, I was a visiting scholar at the University
of Arizona, in Tucson. I’m specializing in the philosophy of mind and
metaphysics. The focus of my research so far has been: consciousness,
intentionality, physicalism, functionalism, mental causation, the
ontology of composition, and dispositional essentialism. Recently, I've
come to be interested in
philosophical theology as well.

Music: First of
all, I've been a MANOWAR
in the last 18 years (I'm writing this in 2006). Second, I used to be a
musician, vocals and
guitars, in a metal band called Empire,
